The Edition of the Toleration Applications

The Edition of the Toleration Applications brings systematically assorted historical sources about the first year after the Patent of Toleration was declared, including the nominal applications to the Evangelic belief. It covers the area of the current Czech Republic. It is useful for example for genealogists or historians focused on this important period of the Czech history. It should not fail in any scientific library of the history.

The Edition is available only in Czech.

Information about the Edition of the Toleration Applications

When working on the Edition it is progressed following the historical regions from the end of 18th century. Till 1996 the Edition was published and financed by the Synodical Council of the Evangelic Church of Czech Brethren (ECCB). This time the Edition was published only in printed version and all regions that were published in the first edition till 1996 have already been sold off (you can obtain it only as not very good photo-copies).

Till 1996 were finished and published Editions for these regions:
Jihlava; Znojmo; Olomouc; Rakovník; Litoměřice; Kouřim; Prague Towns; Beroun; Tábor

Bibliographic data:

"Digital reprints" of the sold-out volumes of the Edition (since the 1st edition nothing has been either corrected or added any new found documents, the original pagination of the volume Jihlava could not be kept in digital typesetting – however, original page numbers are written at the end of the row, where the original page ended):

The Edition for other edited regions (starting with Hradec Králové in 2004) and also the second editions of already published and sold off regions (the first region that was published second time as well is Tábor in 2005) are published by Historical Society VERITAS instead of the Synodical Council of ECCB. We have stopped to issue the Edition in the classical way and change to the digital publication because of the finances. Of course on demand we can make a printed version from the electronic data as well. See the prices and further information in the order form below. Also the digital version of all regions on CD-ROM can be obtained.

Historical Society VERITAS finished and digitally published since 2004 the Edition for these regions:
Hradec Králové; Tábor; Mladá Boleslav; Prague Towns; Beroun; Litoměřice
You can download these volumes from this site for free and print yourself (below).

Now we have begun the intensive work on all of the remaining, not yet published regions:
Čáslav; Nový Bydžov; Chrudim; Brno; Přerov; Uherské Hradiště

We are also going to digitalize and finish the second edition of these, currently sold off regions:
Jihlava; Znojmo; Olomouc; Rakovník; Kouřim

Remaining regions of the administrative dividing of the Czech Kingdom where any non-catholic has not applied in 1781–1782, do not need to be processed, of course:

  • Land Bohemia, region 2 Loket
  • Land Bohemia, region 3 Prácheň
  • Land Bohemia, region 7 Žatec
  • Land Bohemia, region 9 Plzeň
  • Land Bohemia, region 12 Klatovy
  • Land Bohemia, region 13 České Budějovice

The work on the Edition is time and skill demanding, the rate of the publishing is affected in the negative way especially because of shortage of fellow-workers and the impossibility to pay them as well. Therefore we challenge the readers to help us with the overtyping of the published and currently sold off regions to the computer. People interested in this work can contact VERITAS for example by email. Thank you for the understanding.
